Kimberly Pearson, M.D. is an Instructor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School (the #1 ranked medical school for research and women's health by U.S. News), and a Staff Psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital (the #1 and #3 ranked hospitals, respectively, for Psychiatry in the United States by U.S. News). Dr. Pearson also consults to the Klarmen Eating Disorders Center and the Pavilion at McLean Hospital, where she previously served as the Director of the Outpatient Eating Disorders Program. She also maintains a private practice in Belmont, Massachusetts, and sees patients on a consultative basis around the United States and the world. Dr. Pearson is a recognized specialist in the areas of eating disorders, perinatal psychiatry, and women's health and psychiatry, and her publications include Women's Health and Psychiatry, Lippincott, Williams and Wilkins, 2002. Some specific areas of expertise include general psychiatry, medication exposure during pregnancy and breastfeeding, postpartum depression, menopause, PMS, bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, and bing-eating disorder. Dr. Pearson has participated in various academic clinical research studies, including an ongoing longitudinal study of mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and the peurperum, the use of Wellbutrin in treating postpartum depression, and perinatal outcome after antidepressant exposure during pregnancy. Her research has been published in some of the most well-respected, peer reviewed medical journals, including the International Journal of Neuropsychomarmacology, Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, and Diabetes Care. Dr. Pearson is routinely invited to review psychiatric books and articles, including for the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, Current Psychiatry, and the British Journal of Psychology. She also is routinely invited to give lectures at academic centers and in communities around the country on issues related to eating disorders and psychiatric disorders associated with female reproductive function. Dr. Pearson is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Academy of Eating Disorders and the Multiservice Eating Disorders Association. Dr. Pearson received her M.D. from Northwestern University Medical School, and completed her residency in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. Dr. Pearson also completed a fellowship at the Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry Clinical Research Program at MGH. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
